AB fleet racing, 1991 — on film

Tom Montgomery, whose family has sailed ABs since the 1980s, has shared this film of the fleet racing in 1991. As he puts it, you might recognise a few AB parents in it.

His family had two boats on the water that year: Tom’s own AB 142 Whoops, which he sailed from 1985 to 1991, and AB 300 A Daisy, which the family had from 1989 to 1993. Thirty-five years on they still sail the class — AB 415 Whale of a Time is theirs now.

If you can put a name to a boat or a face in the film — or you were racing that summer yourself — tell us. A sail number and a year is exactly what the family tree is for.
