AB 418

FoxSea

£3,000

AB 418 FoxSea sailing in Poole Harbour, her orange hull with FoxSea in black script along the side, the mainsail numbered 418, a young sailor giving a thumbs up, and a fleet of dinghies behind.

This isn’t a project. It’s a passage. FoxSea (previously named SpaceHopper) has been part of our family since 2019. Both my children learned to sail in her, and she has carried us from CAP right through the fleet — twice — without ever being a burden. She is one of the newer boats in the AB fleet, and a genuine head-turner with beautiful woodwork.

Why she’s worth £3,000: because she will see your family from CAP all the way to Gold Fleet. No swapping, no upgrading, no “good enough for now”. Just one boat, one journey, years of memories.

She asks for almost nothing. I’ve never had to spend hours or money maintaining her — a couple of ropes here and there, and recently a new mast/boom attachment. She simply works, and only costs £60 a year to insure.

The details that matter:

  • Annual buoyancy tests always passed — she floats beautifully high.
  • Self bailer fitted — no back-aching scooping.
  • Jockey wheel on the trolley — no pulled muscles lugging her around.
  • Comfortable for CAP: parents can sit or lie with ease, there is safe seat space for little ones with no ropes in the way, and a high boom means fewer head bumps.
  • Low maintenance — no headaches.

She’s for someone who appreciates beautiful craftsmanship, wants their child to grow up with a single, cherished boat rather than a string of fixer-uppers, and doesn’t have the time, tools or desire for constant tinkering — but wants the very best experience on the water.

Genuine, sad sale. She deserves a family who will love her as much as we have.
